Hey, I’m Simon and I’m the founder of NNGeek.

My love of travel has been with me from a young age. I was very lucky to have been taken on lots of day trips and holidays as a child by my parents, so have got to explore lots of different places. This has continued as I’ve got older. I particularly love seeking out somewhere a bit unusual, or of historical interest.

I was taken to my first theatre show at the age of 4, which was a production of The Sound of Music. You’d think a young child would get quite restless as it is a long show, and can also be complicated and scary. However, I loved it, and since then have been to see many different types of productions from major West End shows to local amateur productions. I’ve even been in a few shows myself when I belonged to the Masque Youth Theatre for a while! If I had to pick my favourite musical then it would be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. I’ve seen it over 30 times and love the variety of different musical styles as well as the fun, colourful story. One of my party pieces is being able to recite all the colours of Joseph’s coat!

As for concerts, I can’t really remember who would have been the first band I saw live, but can remember being taken to several ‘Solid Gold 60’s’ type shows by my parents where I saw a number of different bands who all had hits in the 1960’s. The first big arena concert I think I may have gone to would have been to see McFly in 2006, and since then have been lucky enough to see lots of big names over the years.

I love photography and have picked up skills from watching my mum who was an amateur photographer from a very young age. I love documenting places that I visit, looking for unusual angles and in particular taking photos of nature. I know how to use various types of camera equipment and editing programs and you can see examples of my photos on my portfolio website.

Since 2018, I have been a volunteer at NLive Radio, a local community based radio station in Northampton where I host a weekly two hour radio show on Monday evenings called ‘Simon Selects’. You can find out more about the show. Alongside that, I also look after the station’s website, cover other shows, help out at outdoor events and take part in live broadcasts as well as assisting with organising the music library.
